Chemours is seeking a Global Technology Manager to join our growing PTFE and Melts - Advanced Performance Materials team! This position will report directly to the Global Technology Director of Advanced Performance Materials (APM) at our Newark, Delaware location. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Effectively manage a global team of scientists and managers to support product/application/R&D technical developments/growth and sustainability programs, including setting and meeting strategic goals and supporting customers to select and use Chemours products and successfully developing and implementing sustainable technologies.
  • Oversee R&D, technical service, prototyping and development laboratories in America, Europe and China. Define, allocate, prioritize the resources and activities needed for success and manage budgets for global lab teams.
  • Work with product, commercial and marketing teams to define technical goals that will support the commercial team to meet Chemours business objectives in alignment with Chemours values.
  • Collaborate across technology teams within and outside of APM and align with manufacturing technology and sustainability teams on key projects and initiatives. The following is required for this role:
    • Masters or equivalent degree in a technical discipline; chemistry, engineering, polymer science
    • Demonstrated skills in technology leadership and team building
    • Experience in a technical role working with polymers/fluoroproduct materials, experience in mechanical testing, physical property testing, chemical analysis, polymer design/ modification, and processing technologies
    • Experience with Process Safety Management, SOPs, and safe handling of chemicals and materials
    • Strong interpersonal skills, language skills, presentation skills - both written and oral
    • Strong customer focus attitude with ability to travel domestically and globally as needed The following is preferred for this role:
      • Ph.D. or equivalent in a technical discipline, such as chemistry, engineering, or polymer science
      • > 3yrs experience in a technical role with fluoropolymers
      • Expertise in fluoropolymer extrusion, molding, processing and compounding, i.e. extrusion (wire, tubing, film)
      • Working knowledge of industries where fluoropolymers are used (e.g. automotive, semicon, aerospace, chemical processing industry, energy, electronics, medical)
      • Experience in a customer facing technical support role in the plastics or fluoropolymer industry
