Job Description:
Position: Physical Therapist
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: Newark, DE
Candidates MUST be COVID vaccinated
8 4:30 Monday Friday
(However, 4 10-hour days would be preferred if the candidate is
interested 8 6:30 either Monday Thursday or Tuesday Friday)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To provide Physical Therapy for individuals requiring
rehabilitation after injury or disease process.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluates and re-evaluates patients. Identifies patient and family
goals and incorporates these into the treatment plan.
Completes all documentation related to patient care.
Provides professional consultation regarding patient goals, status,
equipment, and discharge recommendations to the clinical team.
Develops and implements appropriate treatment programs which
includes individualized goals with specific time frames.
Provides patient and family education and training.
Supervises Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant
students during clinical education programs.
Participates in departmental organizational planning of objectives
and long range programs as requested.
Participants in departmental meetings, inservices, seminars,
mandatory hospital programs, and workshops.
Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care
appropriate to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients ,
including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to
obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to
provide the care needed.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental
safety rules and practices and infection control policies. Reports
to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities,
conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to
oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Constant contact with patients. Frequent contact with physicians,
visitors, hospital staff, family, and social support systems. Daily
contact with those supervised.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Supervises Physical Therapist Assistants, aides, students, and
volunteers.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Physical Therapy Clinical Manager
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an A.P.T.A. approved school of Physical Therapy
Certification , BS or MS in Physical Therapy
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of CCHS and departmental policies, procedures, and
operations.
Knowledge and skill in physical therapy evaluation, principles, and
treatment.
Knowledge of clinical education and treating techniques.
Knowledge of basic group dynamics
Skill in oral, written, and interpersonal communications.
Ability to effectively identify, analyze, and evaluate
problems.
Ability to observe patients to determine treatment effectiveness
and adapt activities to meet patients needs.
Ability to reason, prioritize, identify problems, and initiate
problem resolution.
Ability to analytically assess the physical and emotional health of
patients.
Ability to effectively provide physical therapy and related
instruction to patients and their families.
Ability to exercise judgment, tact, and diplomacy when working with
people of all ages, temperaments and personalities.
Ability to intermittently lift objects of medium weight in
functional transfers using good body mechanics.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Licensure in the State of Delaware as a Physical Therapist. CPR
Certification. APTA preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent lifting/transferring of patients, prolonged periods of
standing, walking, and frequent changes of positions. Occasional
heavy lifting .
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Generally pleasant clinical environment. Occasional exposure to
infectious diseases. Work assignments may require travel between
locations.
