Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute (HFGCCRI) is a Unit Based
Medical Director, Inpatient Oncology. If you are ready to join a

belong here at ChristianaCare. Clinical Role & Responsibilities
Responsible for conducting physical examinations and analyzing a
patient’s medical history, studying blood samples, and identifying
white and red blood cell abnormalities and analyzing patient
historical data and using data to make informed decisions. Study
lab tests, CAT scans and MRIs for more accurate diagnosis. Testing
and diagnosing patients. Performing bone marrow aspirations for the
detection of blood disorders. Analyzing blood samples and
identifying white or red blood cell abnormalities. Treating
diseases such as anemia, hemophilia, leukemia. Administering
chemotherapy for the treatment of lymphoma or leukemia. Treating
blood-clotting disorders. Consulting with other medical
professionals in difficult cases. Interpret and diagnosis
morphologic findings on bone marrow biopsy specimens. Document
pathologic findings. Support Department of Medicine in any
audit/review of documentation. Contributes effectively to other
inter-disciplinary team activities such as peer review sessions and
other education and quality activities. Adhere to all American
Board of Internal Medicine and Hematology criteria for knowledge,
guidelines, interpretation of guidelines and execution of
guidelines. Develops and monitors a personal continuing education
strategy Unit Based Medical Director The Unit Based Medical
Director (MD) is responsible, in partnership with Nursing and
Administrative leadership, for the clinical operations of their
assigned unit(s). The MD is expected to foster interaction and
close collaboration with medical and nursing staff to lead and be
accountable for the outcomes of unit/location-based initiatives in
accordance with the AOP goals, including optimal health,
exceptional experience, and thoughtful resource utilization. The
UBMD is also expected to work closely with peer MDs (e.g., MD of
Quality and Safety), Clinical Leaders, and Chiefs to monitor and
track key performance indicators and develop and execute on
improvement initiatives. This includes performing rounds with the
Nursing Dyad and providing coaching and mentorship to providers
(physicians and APCs) as needed. Unit-Based Medical Director will
be expected to: Provides leadership and local accountability in the
implementation and sustainment of unit-based quality and safety
metrics in the areas of preventable harm, mortality/morbidity, and
standards of care, readmissions, and access/flow. This includes
identification and escalation of opportunities to senior
leadership. Review quality, experience and flow related metrics
weekly to debrief with nurse manager, solicit perspectives on
outlier performance, provide feedback and target interventions.
Participate in review of quality of care associated with your unit
via chart review or other appropriate modalities. Promote physician
adoption of policies and procedures. The Unit-Based Medical
Director will be the first resource in the chain of command for the
Nurse Manager for addressing any physician related quality and
safety and patient experience concerns. Participate in campus-based
huddles at least once per week (virtual or in-person) Act as a
positive change agent by observing, coaching and holding rounds
team members accountable for performance, in alignment with the
standard MDR process Participate in leadership dyad rounding with
the unit nurse manager on a consistent basis (at least once a
month). Engage in provider service recovery follow-up as needed.
Act as a role model for patient experience behaviors (eg. AIDET,
Teach Back). Provide feedback to others and mentoring if
appropriate. Participate in train-the-trainer for teach back when
sessions resume. Participate in Administrator on Call rotation as

program is one of a select group of research centers in the country
that participate in the National Cancer Institute’s Community
Oncology Research Program. Our Breast Center features Delaware’s
only dedicated breast MRI scanner, and the Center for Breast
Reconstruction is the first in Delaware to offer the full breadth
of breast reconstruction options, including state-of-the-art
microsurgical techniques. Our advanced Genetic Counseling & Gene
Testing programs support personal cancer risk assessment and
treatment options as well as familial risk assessment to help
support diagnostic screening and referrals based on your personal
and family medical history. We are the only institution in the
state the provides Gynecologic Oncology services to woman in the
state who are diagnosed with gynecologic cancers. HFGCCRI offers
the only Bone Marrow Transplant and CAR T Cell service in Delaware,
so patients do not need to leave the state for care. Compensation
