In 2018 we celebrated 10 years of accident-free operations.Job ResponsibilitiesThe Materials, Design, and Manufacturing group supports growth of Air Liquide business through development of materials and technologies applied to gas separations, membranes, and advanced manufacturing processes.Duties and Responsibilities* Serves as a safety role model, promoting a high level of safety awareness and continuous improvement in safety practices* Work closely with R&D and business lines to define a roadmap for technology developments, partnerships and collaborations in the Advanced Fabrication Center* Lead building know-how, expertise, and competency development in welding and advanced fabrication processes* Lead project team of scientists and welding engineers in the timely execution of R&D projects and technical developments in domains of welding, automation, and advanced manufacturing* Work within the ecosystem to develop and foster collaborative relationships with internal market groups, project stakeholders, industry partners, equipment suppliers, and customers.* Establish experimental protocols/methods to test and develop new, innovative gas solutions for welding and other fabrication processes* Present and report on AL activity internally and externally, and support affiliates with customer demonstrations, testing, presentations, etc.Qualifications & CompetenciesRequired* Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience in disciplines related to robotics, manufacturing and/or metal fabrication* Strong project management skills* Experience in building and managing projects with partners and customers, including at customer sites* Excellent written and oral communication skillsPreferred* Master's or PhD degree in related disciplines is a plus* Expertise in theoretical aspects of arc- welding processes, physics, and materials and general applications (MIG-MAG, TIG, subarc, stick electrode)* Experience with signal processing tools, computer vision, and algorithms* Strong knowledge of welding automation (machines, robots, cobots)* Experience in automation and digitalization in manufacturing processesAdditional InformationWorking Conditions* Pole leader is based at our Innovation Campus Delaware* State-of-the-art fabrication center, with space for pole leader to lead expansion upon existing equipment* Occasional travel to partner sites (internal/external) and to customer sites for technology demonstration and testingThis position is identified as "safety-sensitive" and is subject to random drug testing in accordance with the current Drug and Alcohol Policy and/or state law.
