As a Cytotechnologist at ChristianaCare, you will perform cytologic procedures and microscopic examinations on tissue specimens and body fluids to provide physicians with information to aid in diagnosing and treating patients. This is a day shift position; hours are 8:00 to 4:30.

Principal duties and Responsibilities:

-Examine gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens microscopically according to established protocol
-Assist in acquiring and assessing adequacy of fine needle aspirations
-Prepare non-gynecologic specimens by smear techniques, cytocentrifugation or filtration according to procedure
-Prepare and maintain chemical reagents and stains
-Communicate results of testing to nursing units, physicians, and other authorized individuals
-Actively participate in quality control program

Education and Experience Requirements:

-BS in Cytotechnology; or,

-BS in the Sciences and Certificate in Cytotechnology

-One year experience preferred

-CT (ASCP) certification
-Experience in clinical cytologic techniques and procedures
-Basic skills for safe and aseptic laboratory research
-Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy
-Experience with quality assurance principles and techniques
-Experience using automated laboratory equipment
