Job Description
AECOM is hiring a senior transportation civil engineer to be deputy
manager our civil - highway engineering department in the Newark,
Delaware office.
We are seeking an experienced engineer who is creative, highly
talented and client focused.
This position will provide technical and leadership guidance for
our group of transportation engineering professionals and continue
our high-quality client relationships and project wins.
Projects range from roadway and site - civil design, highway
(ranging from intersection and pedestrian improvements to
realignment of existing roadways and alignment of new roadways) and
bridge projects, traffic engineering analysis, and transportation
planning studies.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate
an established design-oriented career in a variety of
transportation and civil works projects. Strong emphasis will be
placed on leadership and innovation, client relations, technical
experience, high quality deliverables, writing and communication
skills, and ability to manage projects and project teams on budget
and schedule.
The Civil Engineering Deputy Manager will lead Transportation
projects for our Delaware clients and will work on other regional
and national projects as a key member of the AECOM Mid-Atlantic
Transportation Division.
Position is available for immediate hire.
Job Summary/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serving as supervisor for civil-highway engineering staff in our
Newark, DE office.
Working in a management role providing quality and technical
guidance to a team of civil engineering design professionals where
effective communication is an important part of the job.
Monitoring and ensuring sufficient workload.
Performing engineering, planning, and modeling efforts for all
areas of roadway design projects.
Collaborating with other engineers, planners, and modelers to
research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation analyses or
design issues.
Assisting in the engineering and planning effort for roadway and
highway design, maintenance of traffic, and safety projects
including following DelDOT's plan development process.
Guiding/ mentoring engineers and providing QA/QC for projects in
various areas of highway design, analysis, and simulation.
Interacting and coordinating regularly with clients and sub
consultants in the various assignments
Understanding trends, best practices, and innovation in the
transportation industry and exploring opportunities of implementing
them on projects.
Assisting with business development activities in providing
responses to RFP, RFQ, and SOQ including technical writing, and
scope and fee development.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other equivalent degree
+ 6 years of related work experience or demonstrated equivalency of
experience and/or education
Experience/familiarity with DelDOT projects
PE License in Delaware or reciprocal is required or the ability to
obtain one within 6 months.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in civil engineering with an emphasis on Roadway,
Drainage, Traffic, Site - Civil projects.
Project design team lead experience
Bentley InRoads, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or
similar design applications.
Experience with being a people manager for engineering and other
technical staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent Technical Writing Skills
MS Office software application skills, such as spreadsheet, word
processing, and standard office software
Industry standard computer software
